“Namir Station” project is one of the 62 stations of The Green Line which is one of three major light rail projects in the region as part of a wider effort to improve transport links in Israel, it is expected to open in 2028, will add 39km of light rail to Tel Aviv and the surrounding area along with 62 stations set to serve 275,000 passengers a day. The project is part of wider ambitions in the country to develop transport links in one of its biggest cities, following the construction of the 24km Red Line which opened in August 2023 after years of delays, and being built alongside the 27km Purple Line.
The Green line will run from Rishon LeZion northwards through Holon through central Tel Aviv and will split into two branches: One to Herzliya in the north, and one to Ramat HaHayal neighborhood in Tel Aviv in the northeast. The expected annual passenger forecast is 65 million.
The goal of the project is to build a tunnel along Einstein Street and a station for loading and dropping passengers under Namir Street, which includes underground entrances for passengers and underground passages to the station itself. This is a complex and challenging project that combines urban work, such as the execution and moving of underground infrastructures, and alot of works in concrete like piles foundations, slurry walls and precast prestressed beams. The project is located in the heart of Tel Aviv so all of this is done while maintaining a normal (as much as possible) lifestyle of the population living in the area.
